Nina Solomita, MFA, Professional Writing Services
Theater
My passion for theater from a very young age informs and strengthens the skills that I need for the professional writing services on this site. I have
participated in theater as an actor, playwright, director, dramaturg, and
administrator and continue to do so as actor, playwright, and dramaturg.
A familiarity with plays and how they are constructed helps me to be aware of the arc in other types of writing. Knowing how to write a scene for theater helps me when editing or suggesting a scene for a fictional or nonfictional piece. The heightened language of the theater from the ancient Greeks to the present resonates within me, providing a rich resource for all my work. Theater exercises are often very useful when applied to general writing and I use several when I coach or teach.
One of the playwrights I’ve worked with wrote,
"Nina Solomita, a writer’s coach and dramaturg blessed with a well-honed instinct, is one of those
unusual people who senses what your story needs and knows how to guide you toward the answer."
