Nina Solomita, MFA, Professional Writing Services
Educator
Two of my great joys are assisting writers to realize their visions by working with them one-on-one and designing and teaching writing workshops. I have done both for a few decades and am still coming up with ideas.
I received my MFA in creative writing from Goddard College and have taught at the college level and independently at many different venues.
Some of my workshops are designed to access the treasures and riches of the imagination--Writing to Discover Your Inner Muse, Movement and Writing--while others have more specific goals. Since I have been involved with theater in many capacities from an early age and am a playwright myself, some of my courses deal with play structure--Creating Compelling Characters for Stage and Page, Let’s Make a Scene—and can also be applied to other forms of writing. As Instructor and Dean of the Adult School at Pacific Repertory Theatre, School of Dramatic Arts (SoDA) in Carmel, CA, my courses included: Compelling Characters for Stage and Page, Writing for Performance, Movement and Writing, and Look at Me: Cries from the Heart.
In Marin, CA, I've presented creative writing workshops at Book Passage, Corte Madera; Yoga of Sausalito; Elsewhere Gallery, Fairfax; Studio 333, Sausalito; and Driver's Market, Sausalito. Other venues include Gentrain at Monterey Peninsula College, and Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes (OLLI) programs at Berkeley, Dominican College, and CSUEB.
My presentation on Tennessee Williams and his play, A Streetcar Named Desire, was done in collaboration with the Monterey County Theater Alliance as a Zoom production in 2021. I am working on the next in the series, which is about Edward Albee and his play, The American Dream.
I am in the process of creating assorted Zoom writing courses and will keep you posted on this site.
