Teaching ~ Workshop Design
Most recently, I've taught my courses Pulitzer Prize-winning Plays and Great Plays of the Twentieth Century for Osher Lifelong Living Institutes (OLLIs) at UC Berkeley, Dominican University, and CSUEB.
As Instructor and Dean of the Adult School at Pacific Repertory Theatre, School of Dramatic Arts (SoDA) in Carmel, CA, my courses included: Compelling Characters for Stage and Page, Writing for Performance, Movement and Writing, and Look at Me: Cries from the Heart. In Marin. I've presented creative writing and playwriting workshops at Book Passage, Corte Madera, Yoga of Sausalito, Elsewhere Gallery, Fairfax, Studio 333, and Driver's Market, Sausalito.
For the University of Massachusetts, Boston; Lesley College, Cambridge, MA; the Muscular Therapy Institute, Cambridge, MA; and Massachusetts College of Art, I collaborated with educators to create and present writing workshops. At California State University, Monterey Bay and Heald College I taught English, Essay Writing, and Professional Development classes.
I have worked with educators in the fields of visual arts and meditation to create workshops. I have also collaborated with therapists who teach in the healing modalities to facilitate self-care and self-understanding through writing. I've even worked with teachers of anatomy, using the body and its magnificent structure as departure points for writing, self-exploration and expression.
Is there something you would like to teach in a workshop setting?
Not quite sure how to get started?
Or, once started, in need of some ideas to carry through your theme?
If you are a person who loves to pass on what you've learned, there's nothing more exciting than guiding others through a process that opens them to new experiences.
I can work with you to design the structure that would best suit your material, whether as a day-long workshop or one that extends over several weeks.
There are so many ways to make what you teach fun and exciting as well informative. Let's explore them together.
